Fortnite has officially become an Olympic esports discipline

On June 22-25, the first ever esports Olympic Games will begin, i.e. one of the most groundbreaking events in history that will combine the idea of such sports competition with the world of virtual entertainment. IOC has already selected 10 disciplines in which the best players from around the world will compete. What is interesting about all this, the competition will not take place in typical esports games like LOL, CS: GO or DOTA 2, but in games based on real sports. They are also neither the biggest nor the best games in a given genre, which is weird, but that’s a topic for a separate material.

Today, however, we already know that a tenth, which is shooting, has been added to the 9 existing disciplines. This will take place as part of the Fortnite game and a specially prepared map from the creative mode. so, next to Gran Turismo and Chess.com, Fortnite is the third mainstream production joining the esports Olympic disciplines.

Archery – Tic Tac Bow
Baseball – WBSC eBASEBALL: Power Pros
Chess – Chess.com
Cycling – Zwift
Dance – Just Dance
Motorsports – Gran Turismo 7
Regatta – Virtual Regatta
Marksmanship – Fortnite (Creative Map)
Taekwondo – Virtual Taekwondo
Tennis – Tennis: Clash
